Vultures of Knowledge

from Passive/Aggressive by PACKRAT

lyrics

Something slowly passing by.
Too faint to be much more than a memory.
It appears now and again in my mind's eye,
Distracting from the real world in front of me.
It pushes and pulls me and drags me from bed,
Compels me to dream up visions of purpose.
We never beg the question, never an accusation,
Consuming our knowledge like vultures.

So I've designed a world without power,
Crafted in silence away from the storm.
Now we watch and wait for our turning tides.
Enter the echo, the resounding pulse of life.
I could have imagined a hawk without his talons
Is like a dog confined to a cage on his last day.

Breaking free from the ancient slavery of mind.
Our ancestors' prophetic lies.
We consecrate their meaningless physical existence.
Take the helm of our lives and steer them ashore,
Defying all we thought we were.
No need for gods or for scripture or church.
The hour of rebellion has arrived, we pass through all phases of life.
I came here to tell you of impending Armageddon.
Throw back your shackles to the blowing winds;
Here's to those who never truly lived.
Wise as we think we are, can never truly fathom.
Only time will tell where we go from here,
Decisions made all on free will.
Can't you see fate is just a lesser solution?
So throw back your shackles to the blowing winds;
Here's to those who never truly lived.
Wise as we think we are, can never truly fathom.
(Wise as we think we are, can never truly fathom)
